Tim Southee's most recent Test for New Zealand was against England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes contest in Australia.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is only likely to be present for the opening match due to his involvement in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on December 2 in the UAE.
Southee, 36, took up a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Speaking as the English squad for the first of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was announced, Southee stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.
"We will determine what happens over the coming days."
England bowling legend Broad had stated the Australian team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the contest, which begins on 21 November.
"In my view there's ever a poor Australian cricket team," he said.
"The team's attention is squarely on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [the English] side that's going out to the host country is brilliant.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
However, before England travel to the city of Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
